Press release

The Milk Producers’ Organisation (MPO) has expressed its appreciation of government's view that agriculture has the potential to become one of the largest job creators in the country. MPO chairperson, Mr Dèan Kleynhans, has welcomed the announcement by government and said the dairy industry is a significant multiplying factor in terms of job creation and, under ideal conditions, could become one of the most important contributors to the country’s gross domestic product.

“The MPO is looking forward to collaborate closely with government and to offer assistance in this regard. We have strong relationships with decision makers in various agricultural and related government departments and are in contact with role players on a daily basis. We would like to continue building on this positive and dynamic relationship,” he said.

“In addition, the MPO is constantly empowering and training around 2 500 farm workers and emerging farmers to not only engage in their daily activities with confidence but also to eventually be able to employ others.”
