The Agricultural Business Chamber's Congress will be held on 2 and 3 June 2010 at the Lord Charles Hotel, Somerset West. The theme of the congress is Competitive Agribusiness in the Global Village.
Companies in the agricultural value chain are facing numerous challenges, locally within South Africa as well as internationally. The Congress will have a strategic yet practical impact, and special attention will be given to those matters which the ABC must deal with to ensure growth in the agribusiness sector.
Delegates ranging from government, agribusinesses, producer organisations, processors, media and various other major role players in the southern African agriculture and agro-food industry are expected to attend this event.
The Congress programme will provide delegates with a variety of topics, presented by excellent speakers and there will be adequate time for questions and discussions following each presentation.
Topics that will be discussed are:
- The National Planning Commission, food security and competitiveness of agro-food value chains;
- USA's role in Global Agriculture and Food Security, and impact on SA Agro-food industry;
- Global recovery: Macro-economic factors impacting on South Africa's growth and competitiveness;
- Constraints and barriers impacting negatively on the agro-food sector's competitiveness;
- Preview of agricultural commodity trends and growth prospects, and the impact thereof on agribusiness competitiveness;
- The political environment in which the Agribusiness Sector must perform competitively;
- BBBEE study conducted in the Agribusiness Sector and the challenges facing the sector in this regard; and
- Policy environment required to meet the challenges the Agribusiness Sector faces, as well as the positioning of Agribusinesses to meet these challenges.
Everyone concerned with these issues are welcome to attend the Congress.

Members - R1 500 per person (VAT included).
Non-members - R1 900 per person (VAT included).
Registration fees include a welcoming function, refreshments at congress; lunch on the 1st day of the congress, congress dinner; congress material; congress bag and excellent speakers. Registration fees DO NOT include accommodation or transportation.
TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is available at the Lord Charles Hotel and delegates are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements.

The Chairperson's welcoming function is on 1 June 2010 while the Gala Dinner is on 2 June 2010.
